About the event
Please join us on Thursday 25th August with pianists Alexander Crawford and Yiyi Su for an evening of Debussy in celebration of what would have been his 160th birthday!Â
For this months recital, in the C. Bechstein Centre Manchester recital series, you will be treated with an extended performance of Debussy's Preludes - Book 1, Suite Bergamasque and Pour le Piano.Â
Tickets for this recital are completely FREE and all guests will receive a complimentary glass of bubbly/non-alcoholic alternative. Tickets are limited, so if you would like to attend please call us on 0161 527 7677 or email info@bechstein.co.uk to secure your seat.

About the pianists
Alexander Crawford
Alexander Crawford, a passionate young pianist from the West Midlands, studies piano under Dr. Murray McLachlan, Head of Keyboard at Chethams School of Music. Alexander joined Chethams from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where he studied under Sarah Daniels. Â Awarded a Music Scholarship by Lichfield Cathedral School, Staffordshire, Alexander began his keyboard studies under Tanya Hilton, graduate of the Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatoire, USSR. Alexander achieved an ATCL (Distinction) in 2019 at the age of 11 and was awarded the LTCL in 2020 at 12 years of age. Â Alexander competes regularly in local and international competitions and is particularly fond of the romantic repertoire.
A winner of the 2022 concerto competition at Chethams with his performance of Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Alexander will be performing with the Chethams Sinfonia in 2022 / 2023.
Yiyi Su
Yiyi Su is a Chinese pianist studying piano performance at Royal Northern College of Music with professor Graham Scott. Supported by Ms Mcleod and Trustees of the Blenheim Music Circle, Yiyi is a Rosalind Leney Award and Pamela Larkin Award Holder. She has recently completed her Bachelor degree with distinction at the Royal College of Music, following studies with Professor Gordon Fergus-Thompson.Â
Before she came to the UK, Yiyi was one of the most outstanding graduates at the Middle School of Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, China, following studying with Chinese-Canadian pianist Dr. Vivian Li. Yiyi received numerous national and international prizes, including the Third prize of The National Piano concerto competition (China), First prize Asia Yamaha competition and became the Yamaha young artist and scholar in year 2014-2016.Â
As a soloist, Yiyi performs regularly throughout the UK. Notable past performances include a solo recital in St Stephens Church (London), and St George’s Hanover Square (London). She has recently won the RNCM’s Concerto Competition and First Prize of the Mark Ray Recital Prize. Second Prize of the Sheepdrove Turst UK Intercollegiate competition.
