About the event

We are pleased to announce that we will be joined by RNCM pianists Jay Carroll & Canyi Zhuang who will be treating us to an exciting evening of Albeniz, Villa-Lobos and Ginastera for our May performance in our C. Bechstein Centre Manchester recital series!

Please note, we now charge a small fee for recital tickets, priced at £7 each or £5 for students (proof of ID required). To support and show thanks for their time and expertise, the majority of the ticket fee will be paid to the performer(s). All guests will receive a complimentary glass of prosecco/non-alcoholic alternative on arrival.

Tickets are limited, so if you would like to attend please call us on 0161 527 7677 and have a debit/credit card to hand. Alternatively, you can book online via Eventbrite, however, please note a booking fee is payable. Please allow at least 48 hours' notice to cancel your tickets. As a matter of policy, we cannot issue a refund after this time. If you need to cancel, please call and speak to a staff member. 

Doors are at 6:15 pm with the recital to begin at 6:30 pm and end at 7:30 pm.

About Canyi

Canyi Zhuang is a Chinese concert pianist who is studying at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music in the UK. She currently studies for her Master of Music degree with her mentor Kathryn Stott. And was awarded First Class Honors for her Bachelor of Music degree. Canyi received entry scholarships for her Bachelor's and Master's studies, highlighting her exceptional talent and potential as a musician.

Canyi has participated in several high-profile events and competitions, including the London Youth Piano Competition, Ludao Piano Competition, and Liszt International Youth Piano Competition in China. Her performances have received praise and recognition from renowned pianists such as Hyoung-Joon Chang, Jacques Rouvier, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Michal Bialk, Óscar Martín, Uta Weyand, and Yafen Zhu.

Canyi is not only a soloist but also a skilled chamber musician. She collaborates with musicians who play Western and Chinese instruments and performs regularly with them at the Xiamen Gulang Island concert hall. In addition to her performances, Canyi is also involved in charitable work, holding recitals and charity concerts to support various causes.

About Jay

Jay Carroll is a Manchester-born pianist and graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music where he studied with both Sally Ann Macleod and Kathryn Stott. During his time in college, he won both the Nossek Trio Prize and Cronshaw/Brownson Song Prize, and in 2021 he won Best Accompanist in the Courtney Kenny Song Prize. Jay has performed across the UK and Ireland and has enjoyed lessons from internationally-acclaimed musicians such as: Trio Gaspard, Trio Karenine, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Philippe Casard and more.
